128 student-athletes named Academic All-Conference
Oakland University produced a record 128 student-athletes that were named to the winter 2007 Mid-Continent Academic All-Conference team, according to the league office. To be selected for the team, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average and be a letterwinner in the sport for which he/she is nominated.
Oakland’s record 128 selections were the most in the eight-team league, with Valparaiso (118) and Western Illinois (96) having the next highest totals.
Oakland’s men’s and women’s track and field teams each contributed the most student-athletes to the list for OU with 19 squad members apiece gaining recognition. Softball was close behind that with 18 honorees. Baseball added 15, women’s swimming and diving 12, men’s swimming and diving 11 and women’s basketball 10. Women’s golf added nine, women’s tennis seven, men’s golf five and men’s basketball three.
