Star International Academy to receive federal grant
The U.S. Department of Education's Kristine Cohn will present Star International Academy, one of OU's charter schools, with a $339,586 check for a federal Foreign Language Assistance Program grant in an assembly at the school, 24425 Haas, Dearborn Heights, on Friday, June 8 at 10:30 a.m.

The Foreign Language Assistance Program provides grants to establish, improve or expand innovative foreign language programs for elementary and secondary school students in order to increase the number of student studying critical languages, with the overall goal of helping ensure America's competitiveness.

Cohn is U.S. Secretary of Education's top official for Region V, comprised of Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
