Frances Meuser
Frances Meuser
Associate Professor
Modern Languages
Professor Frances Meuser has worked tirelessly as a liaison between the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and both the School of Education and Human Services and the Michigan Department of Education (MDE). She served on the state-wide MDE committee that formulated the new Michigan Standards for Preparation of World Language Teachers. She was also a member of the MDE group responsible for development of the new Spanish content exam for teachers.
At the university level, Meuser worked with colleagues in MLL and faculty and staff in SEHS to amend the secondary education modern languages programs to the more versatile K-12 certification option. To facilitate the new K-12 program, Professor Meuser modified the existing secondary methods course and designed the new elementary methods course; her careful work will present a seamless learning experience to our students. Most recently, Professor Meuser led a group of MLL faculty to Lansing to assist the MDE in review of all French, German and Spanish K-12 programs in the state.
