The Office of the Registrar recently launched its new Web site, allowing students and alumni greater access to university information and services.

"Our office's Internet presence began with Web registration. Now students can get their grades over the Web, as well as unofficial copies of their academic transcripts. We're hopeful that our students will increasingly be going to the Web for this information," said Registrar Steve Shablin.

Information that previously was available only in the printed Schedule of Classes now can be found on the Internet.

The new site includes the 2000-2001 academic calendar, including final exam schedules and other important dates; a schedule of classes and a list of course changes; and information on registration, tuition fees, academic records, transcripts, OU's five extension centers, transfer student services, teacher certification and adding, dropping and withdrawing from courses.

"For the students, the Web site is another medium to gain information on things like registration, tuition refunds, the academic calendar and teacher certification," said Shablin. "We're also constantly getting questions on how to request a transcript,and that information is posted there as well."

The university is looking at expanding its online offerings of printed resources and ways of allowing students to update their own information via the Internet, said Shablin.

"Down the road, we'd like to look at some of our mailings and make them more readily available for student use on the Web," Shablin said. "We're also looking at ways to allow students to update certain information like address changes and transcript requests. We will eventually have the means to allow credit card payment over the Web as well."
