Qian (Beth) Zou
Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering
The 2006 recipient of the New Investigator Research Excellence Award, Beth Zou’s research in the area of lubrication, friction and wear, called tribology, with specific emphasis in automotive tribology, fastener tribology, friction/wear modeling and testing, thin film lubrication, and micro/nano tribology has resulted in 26 refereed publications and attracted grant support from such agencies as the National Science Foundation, U.S. Army Tank Command and General Motors.
Her work has been recognized nationally with a National Science Foundation summer fellowship award and the Science and Technology Progress Award from China.
In Zou’s short time at Oakland University, she has graduated one master’s student, and her research group currently includes three master’s and three doctoral students.
