OU hosts local high schools for Healthy Spirit Day
By Rebecca Wyatt, OU Web Writer
Oakland University’s School of Health Sciences and the Department of Campus Recreation are hosting Healthy Spirit Day, an event geared toward high school juniors and seniors who have an interest in health-related careers.
The students will visit OU on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to learn more about health programs at OU and participate in health-related information sessions including a physical therapy activity, guided imagery, fitness testing and a presentation on laughter as medicine.
“The goal of Healthy Spirit Day is to educate individuals on the mind, body and spirit,” said Mila Padgett, assistant director of Programs in the Department of Campus Recreation. “It gives them exposure to different aspects of health and wellness.”
More than 300 students from area schools are expected to participate in the programs. Participating schools are given the option to take campus tours and introduce students to health sciences at OU.
For more information on OU’s health science programs, visit the School of Health Science Web site or call (248) 370-3562.
