Grizzlies named to Academic All-Conference list

Oakland University had a total of 48 student-athletes named to the winter/spring 2005 Mid-Continent Academic All-Conference team. To be selected for the team, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, be a sophomore or higher in academic standing, and compete in the sport for which he/she is nominated. Oakland’s 48 selections to the team were the fourth most in the nine-team league, trailing Valparaiso with 86, Western Illinois with 82 and Southern Utah with 60 recipients.

Oakland’s women’s swimming and diving team contributed the most student-athletes to the list for OU with 12 squad members gaining recognition. The Golden Grizzly women’s basketball, men’s golf, softball and men’s swimming and diving teams all contributed six honorees, while the baseball team had four on the list. Oakland’s women’s golf and tennis teams had three honorees each, with the men’s basketball squad placing two of its squad on the list.
