Redesigned SpiritCard offers new ATM, debit feature
By Rebecca Wyatt, OU Web Writer
A redesigned OU SpiritCard will be showing up around campus as it is issued to new students, faculty and staff, and the card will offer PLUS, a new feature bringing a MasterCard debit and ATM option to the already versatile card.
The SpiritCard, OU’s official picture identification card, provides access to meal plans, library materials, the Recreation Center, C@fé O’Bear’s 24-hour computer lab and after-hours building access, PrintWise copy machines and computer lab printing, and SpiritCa$h, the payment method for on-campus food service outlets, the bookstore and select vending machines.
By upgrading to the PLUS option, a MasterCard logo is added to the SpiritCard and offers ATM access and MasterCard debit purchasing capabilities.
The PLUS option was developed as a result of the partnership between OU and Credit Union ONE and was specifically designed for the needs of OU and its students.
“Oakland University is only the second university in the country to provide this optional instance issuance feature on its campus ID card,” said Don Ritenburgh, manager of ID Card operations.
The PLUS feature is available to new and existing Credit Union ONE accountholders. To upgrade to the SpiritCard with the PLUS feature, visit the ID Card Office at 112 Oakland Center to have the card printed and elect this feature. The card will be printed and issued at the Credit Union ONE location in the Oakland Center where cardholders select a personal identification number. The PLUS feature is available free of charge to OU students, faculty and staff who wish to upgrade.
However, current OU SpiritCard holders are not required to upgrade to the redesigned SpiritCards. The current cards will continue to perform all of the same functions.
