Student organizations recognized for involvement

By Rebecca Wyatt, OU Web Writer

Students and advisers from OU’s numerous student organizations and Greek life gather in the Banquet Rooms of the Oakland Center on April 17, to recognize the contributions of individuals and groups to campus life during the 27th annual Student and Greek Organization's Recognition Night.

The award reception, organized by the Center for Student Activities (CSA), featured the theme “Leadership: The Ultimate Road Trip,” and not only recognized the dedication of organizations but also the Volunteer Service Award, Commuter Involvement Award and the Sidney Fink Memorial Award winners.

While the student and Greek organizations have been recognized for 27 years, the first formal reception was held last year and CSA wanted to continue the tradition.

“The recognition Nnght recognizes accomplishments made by student organizations and individuals. The event is a time where student organizations can come together and celebrate all the hard work they accomplished over the past year,” said Cressie Smith, coordinator of student organizations and Greek life.

Awards winners are self-nominated or nominated by organizations, advisers and fellow students. Recipients are recognized with certificates, pins and financial awards.
