Men’s basketball team gains national attention

Oakland University’s men’s basketball team has received a lot of publicity across the country after winning its first Mid-Continent Conference championship and making it to the Division I NCAA Tournament for the first time in the team’s history.

The Golden Grizzlies now prepare to make history again as they face No. 1 seed University of North Carolina Friday, March 18, at 3 p.m. at Charlotte Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C. OU faces an uphill battle as no No. 16 seed has ever defeated a No. 1 seed in the tournament’s history.

The game will start Friday, March 18, 30 minutes after the Missouri/Iowa State game played at 12:30 p.m. EST is finished.

The Oakland/North Carolina game will be televised live on CBS in front of a national audience.

Several articles about the Golden Grizzlies have appeared in local and national publications and news outlets, including The Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, The Oakland Press and USA Today. Click on the headlines below to see what has been written. This list will be updated as new articles appear, so please check back.
