Oakland University's Industrial and Systems Engineering Department will be offering four new courses during the 2014-15 academic year.

These courses are available to students already admitted to the ISE and Engineering Management degree programs, as well as to professional development students from industry; including engineering professionals from any field of engineering – mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial and systems engineering, etc.

2014 Fall Semester (Sept. - Dec., 2014):

  • ISE 595 Engineering Project Management is a four credit course that will be taught by former Chrysler engineer and OU alumni Bill Edwards. This course is under development with the assistance of Fulcrum Edge Inc., a firm with vast project management experience.  The course meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 - 9:17 p.m.
  • ISE 495/595 PLM Applications - Configuration and Change Management will be the first in a series of two credit, hands-on application courses on various topics. Taught by Srinivas Kuppa from Siemens PLM Inc., this course will focus on the use of the Siemens PLM tool, Teamcenter, for product initiation, product design, manufacturing and procurements. The course meets on Thursdays from 7:30 - 9:17 p.m.

During the 2015 winter semester (Jan. - April, 2015):

  • ISE 495/595 PLM Applications - Robotics is a two credit, hands-on application course to be taught by Bill Edwards. Students will obtain hands-on knowledge of the Siemens PLM tool Process Simulate - Robotics (a.k.a. RobotExpert) and will use it to conduct a series of robotics projects. The course meets on Thursdays from 5:30 - 7:17 p.m.
  • ISE 495 Programmable Logic Controllers is a two credit, hands-on application course. Taught by ISE alumnus Martin Dubois, this course will focus on hands-on applications of PLCs. The course meets on Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m - 12:47 p.m.
If you are an engineer interested in taking one or more of these courses for professional development, please contact Professor Robert Van Til (vantil@oakland.edu, 248-370-2211) for more information on the courses and how to apply.
