Students in the Nursing and Health Sciences Camp leave from the Anton/Frankel Center in Mount Cemens to Oakland University’s new Human Health building to explore the various career opportunities in the nursing and health professions.

High School students can participate in one of Oakland University’s interactive summer camps.

These camps offers students ages 14 to 17 the opportunity to spend their summer at Oakland University. Attendees will explore career options and participate in hands-on activities, field trips and presentations.

The interactive camps will be held from June to August 2014 and led by the prestigious Oakland University faculty.

High school students in the Engineering and Computer Science Camp delve into the emerging fields of biomedical and alternative energy. Hands-on activities and simulations such as building electronic motors and assemblies will engage students as they learn about career options in this growing field.

Participants will receive a comprehensive look at emerging fields, information concerning projected employment and how to begin preparing for their future.

“So many high school seniors enter college undecided on which major to pursue,” said Julie Trube, interim executive director of Oakland University Macomb County. “The camp experiences are a great opportunity for high school students to get hands-on experience to many of the high-growth, high-demand careers in Southeast Michigan.”

OU offers camps in career exploration, nursing and health sciences, and engineering and computer science. The career exploration and engineering and computer science camp will be held in Macomb County and Oakland University’s Anton/Frankel Center in Mount Clemens.  The nursing and health sciences camp will be held at Oakland University’s main campus; however, transportation will be provided from the Anton/Frankel Center to OU’s main campus each day of the camp.

Cost for the interactive camps vary in price, but include transportation for scheduled field trips, lunch, snacks and a T-shirt. All camps will be held at Oakland University’s Anton/Frankel Center.

Career exploration and engineering camps will also be offered in St. Clair County in August 2014.

Registration opens on March 10, 2014. Space is limited.  Visit oakland.edu/summercamps to learn more about all of OU's summer camps and to register.
