Overview and Topics

A course designed for graduate students and professionals in Education, Counseling, School Social Work, or School Nursing, students will learn about appropriate educational placements and needed supports for students with ASD and various co-existing neuropsychiatric disorders, neurochemical basis for using medications, evidence-based use of psychotropic medications, and the important role of educators for achieving effective medical interventions. Clinical case examples will be used to facilitate learning.

- How individuals with ASD, educators, parents and physicians can work together to achieve effective medical therapies
