- Definition of Child Abuse/Trauma and its affects on children, adolescents and adults
- Diagnoses, from the DSM-IV-TR, given to some individuals who have been abused/traumatized
- How child abuse/trauma impacts an individual’s ability to learn and process information
- Interventions educators can use in the classroom with students who have suffered child abuse/trauma

Learning Goals/Course Objectives
At the end of this course, participants will:
- Be able to define child abuse/trauma and have an understanding as to how child abuse/trauma impacts children, adolescents and adults
- Know the symptoms of depression and/or suicide and know how to intervene when they identify a student who shows symptoms of depression and/or suicide ideation.
- Understand the behaviors of a child with Reactive Attachment Disorder.
- Understand how child abuse and/or trauma impacts one’s ability to learn and process information.
- Learn various interventions educators can use in the classroom with students who have suffered from child abuse and/or trauma.
