Title IX

The University is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination on the basis of sex. Oakland provides many resources to students, faculty and staff to address concerns relating to discrimination on the basis of sex, which includes sexual misconduct. Sexual misconduct is an umbrella term that incorporates a range of behaviors including sexual harassment, violence, stalking, and intimate partner, dating violence and domestic violence, and any other conduct of a sexual nature that is non-consensual and/or has the effect of threatening or intimidating a person.

The Director of Inclusion, Joi Cunningham, is the University’s Title IX Coordinator and investigates complaints of sex discrimination, including sexual misconduct and sexual harassment in which faculty or staff members are responding to a complaint. She also oversees all complaints to identify and address any patterns or systemic problems and educates the campus community about sex discrimination and its prevention.

The Assistant Dean of Students, Michael Wadsworth, is the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and is the point person for cases in which a student is responding to a complaint. All such complaints are handled in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
