Deans Choice Grant


The goal of the Share and Care Drive is to challenge students to give back to Flint and surrounding communities. The Division of Student Affairs is hosting three mini competitions (one for each of the below student groups):
  • Greek organizations
  • Student organizations
  • Club sports

Contest is sponsored by the Oakland University Credit Union.

Deadline extended to Monday, February 6.
Contest Details
For each item donated to the drive, the team will receive one point per item.

Non-perishable donations include, but not limited to:
Bottled water*Raisins or other dried fruits

Gift Cards** (grocery store, clothing stores,

department stores, restaurants, etc.)

Individual packets of oatmealCereal (Cheerios, Corn flakes, Raisin Bran)

Nuts and seeds (almonds, peanuts, cashews,

pecans, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds)

Beans (tofu, black beans, pinto beans, lentils, soy beans, split peas)
Granola bars 

* Bottled water should be dropped off at the Recreation Center.
** Gift cards should be taken to the Center for Student Activities Service Window in the Oakland Center.


  • One can of beans = 1 point
  • A 24-pack of bottled water = 24 points
  • A $25 gift card to Kroger = 25 points
  • A 10-pack of individual packets of oatmeal = 10 points

First place winners will receive $625 for their student organization. Second place winners will receive $208. Two winners per student group. 

The winners will be announced at Student Leader Awards Banquet on Monday, April 10, 2017.
