In appreciation for these gifts, donors receive recognition through membership in one of several giving societies. These societies honor individuals who contribute a minimum of $10,000 over their lifetime and corporations that contribute a minimum of $50,000 in cumulative gifts.

Matilda Wilson Founder’s Society
The Matilda Wilson Founder’s Society recognizes donors who contribute cumulative cash gifts of $10 million or more or a planned gift of $20 million. Donors are invited to special events with the president and are recognized on OU’s Donor Honor Wall in the Oakland Center.
Varner Society
The Varner Society recognizes donors who contribute cumulative cash gifts of $5 million or more or a planned gift of $10 million. Donors are invited to special events with the president and are recognized on OU’s Donor Honor Wall in the Oakland Center.
Golden Oaks Society
The Golden Oaks Society recognizes donors who contribute cumulative cash gifts of $1 million or more or a planned gift of $2 million. Donors are invited to special events with the president and are recognized on OU’s Donor Honor Wall in the Oakland Center.
Meadow Brook Society
The Meadow Brook Society recognizes donors who contribute cumulative cash gifts of $500,000 or more or a planned gift of $1 million. Donors are invited to special events with the president and are recognized on OU’s Donor Honor Wall in the Oakland Center.
Pioneer Society
The Pioneer Society recognizes donors who contribute cumulative cash gifts of $250,000 or more or a planned gift of $500,000. Donors are invited to special events with the president and are recognized on OU’s Donor Honor Wall in the Oakland Center.
President’s Council Society
The President’s Council Society recognizes donors who contribute cumulative cash gifts of $100,000 or more or a planned gift of $250,000. Donors are invited to special events with the president and are recognized on OU’s Donor Honor Wall in the Oakland Center.
Matilda R. Wilson Society
The Matilda R. Wilson Society recognizes donors who contribute cumulative cash gifts of $50,000 or more or a planned gift of $100,000. Donors are invited to special events with the president and are recognized on OU’s Donor Honor Wall in the Oakland Center.
Alfred G. Wilson Society
The Alfred G. Wilson Society recognizes donors who contribute cumulative cash gifts of $25,000 or more or a planned gift of $50,000. Donors also are invited to special events with the president and are recognized on OU’s Donor Honor Wall in the Oakland Center.
President's Club
The President's Club honors individual donors who have made cumulative cash gifts of $10,000 or a planned gift of $20,000.
Heritage Society
The Heritage Society recognizes donors who contribute documented planned gifts to Oakland University with the intent of building a legacy for OU's future.
