Health Sciences Program Overview

A Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree combines a broad spectrum of liberal arts, basic sciences, social sciences and health sciences course requirements and electives for students who desire a generalized health sciences academic credential. In addition, students choose one of five academic concentration areas to obtain greater exposure to a specific health discipline.

These five concentration areas include pre-health professional studies, pre-physical therapy, pre-pharmacy, exercise science, and integrative holistic medicine.
  • The pre-health professional concentration area incorporates basic science courses to prepare students for the traditional application requirements for medical, dental, optometric, physician assistant and other professional schools. Additionally, the pre-health professional concentration area prepares students for a seamless transition into the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program at Wayne State University.
  • The pre-physical therapy concentration area prepares students for the traditional application requirements for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. For a plan of study for the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with Pre-Physical Therapy academic concentration click here.
  • Students enrolled in OU's pre-pharmacy program begin earning an undergraduate baccalaureate degree while preparing for a seamless transition into the pharmacy program at Wayne State University's nationally accredited Doctorate of Pharmacy program.
