On April 7, 1950, seven teachers formed MEEMIC Insurance Company based on their belief that they could provide an invaluable service to their fellow educators by offering high-quality, affordable insurance protection. Over fifty years and more than 150,000 policyholders later, MEEMIC® is a Michigan-based company that proudly reflects its roots in the educational community by supporting educational causes.
Meemic Insurance Company has made a generous gift to provide an award to an undergraduate student pursuing his/her degree in education.
This non-renewable awards of approximately $1,500 will be given annually, although this may vary year to year. Eligible students are enrolled in the department of Teacher Education and Educational Studies.
Additional requirements include:
- Enrolled as an undergraduate in the Teacher Development and Educational Studies department of the School of Education and Human Services
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Demonstrate financial need, as defined by Oakland University's Financial Aid office
