SAFB Board Member – The Student Activities Funding Board of Oakland University Student Congress – Center for Student Activities

 

The Student Activities Funding Board oversees allocations to the 285 student organizations on campus. During the 2012-2013 school year, SAFB oversaw the allocation of $365,000 and reviewed over 1,000 requests. Board members cast a deciding vote on any and all matters related to funding allocation procedures.

 

Functions

* Review budget requests from 285 student organizations

* Ensure fair and equitable allocation of all funding requests

* Cast vote during special hearings, requesting exemption from bylaws

* Attend weekly board meetings

* Attend weekly Org meeting from your districts (at least one)

* Assist the Chair with implementation of process improvement projects

* Hold one office hour a week to meet with Orgs and work on SAFB projects

* Gather feedback on various departmental organizations around Oakland University

* Provide consultations with Org leaders on fundraising, bylaws, and training

* Carry out all policies established by the Board, and advise the development of those policies. 

* Serve as a representative of all student organizations on campus

 

Minimum Education/Experience Required

* Minimum GPA of 3.0

* Demonstrated leadership/involvement on campus  

* Experience working with a diverse group of individuals 

* Must maintain confidentiality 

* Demonstrated experience communicating using formal writing techniques 

* Ability to maintain a professional manner including a demonstrated ability to manage conflict 

* Must possess strong organizational skills 

* Must be flexible with demonstrated experience working independently and as a team member 

* Professional work and punctuality habits are necessary to accomplish organizational goals

Time Commitment

* Available from 12-1:30pm on Mondays for SAFB meetings

* One office hour a week between the times of 9-5pm

* Available for one Org district visit a week (flexible)
