Ingrid Rieger joined the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures in the fall of 2000. She has taught a wide variety of German courses from first-year to fourth-year, as well as Foreign Film and Honors College classes conducted in English. Her passion is creative, project-oriented teaching and learning. She also developed an easy to follow, structured writing method that enables students to dramatically improve their writing skills and increases their confidence and sense of accomplishment. She has published articles and book chapters on Goethe in the US and Europe. Her research is currently focused on courtship, family relations and identity formation in Goethe’s novels from historical, psychological and sociological perspectives.
