Emergency Preparedness
The Oakland University Police Department, in conjunction with university administrators, maintains as its utmost mission the protection of our community's safety. Oakland University encourages you to explore the information on this website to familiarize yourself with ways to avert and react to potential crisis situations on campus. Working together, we can keep Oakland University safe.

To sign up to receive text message alerts in the event of a major campus emergency, university closure or campuswide cancellation of classes, visit the Emergency Notification website. To register, you must have a Grizz ID and valid OU e-mail address. Voice alerts are available for OU community members without text message capability.

To reach the OUPD in the event of an emergency:

You may also submit anonymous tips online in non-emergency situations. Please keep in mind that the OUPD prefers the submission of tips and reports by phone whenever possible. Our ability to reply to text and e-mail tips is limited, and direct voice contact enhances our ability to respond appropriately to emergency calls.
