Course Leader: Joe Brandell, PhD
|
A Special Lecturer in the School of Education and Human Services at Oakland University, Dr. Brandell is an Educational Consultant, and the Mathematics Department Chairperson at West Bloomfield High School.
He received his doctoral degree in 2005 from Wayne State University in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Mathematics Education. His research focused on mentoring mathematics and science teachers, which became a catalyst in creating professional development for school districts. His current focus is on Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), in conjunction with the instructional model outlined in the book “Understanding by Design,” by Wiggins and McTighe.
Brandell presents at conferences and consults with school districts on PLCs and "backward design". He has presented Advanced Placement Calculus at summer intstitutes around the country for the past 10 years. |
Schedule and Locations
