Newton's Laws

- Inertia of Motion (1F30.10) link to picture 1f30_10.htm

-Air track will be leveled. Turn on the air supply under the air track bench.

-Push cart and allow it to bounce back and forth along the 2.5 meter track.

-Nearly all energy loss (up to 10%) occurs during the collisions at the ends of the track.

- Inertia of Rest (1F20.30) link to picture 1f20_30.htm

-Leave some slack in the table cloth so your hands will come up to speed before the cloth becomes taut.

- Force, Mass, and Acceleration (1G10.25) link to picture 1g10_25.htm

-Vary the acceleration of the block by changing the mass on the hanger.

- Accelerated Reference Frames

-Suspend a partly extended slinky in the air

-Release the slinky.

- Friction (1K20.10) link to picture 1k20_10.htm

-Measure static friction by noting the scale reading just before the block slides.

-Pull block along lecture bench at a constant speed to measure sliding friction.
