Animal Welfare

Animal Welfare in Animal Assisted Therapy workshop

In order to ensure the safety of all involved, animal welfare needs to be better understood and incorporated into Animal Assisted Interventions. This course will be an introduction to identifying dog body language and ensuring that the dogs' 'like' their job as co-therapist and not just tolerate it.

This short course highlights the importance of animal welfare in animal assisted interventions. In an effort to ensure the safety of the practitioner, client and animal, it is critical that the practitioner can identify stressors in dogs and understand how their own stress can impact their dog's stress. This course will be an introduction to identifying dog body language and ensuring that the dogs' 'like' their job as co-therapist and not just tolerate it.
