Oakland University’s popular Project Management Principles course will be offered online starting July 31, 2017.

For the first time, Oakland University’s popular Project Management Principles course will be offered online starting July 31, 2017.

“This course is designed for anyone responsible for completing projects/assignments on time, within budget, while meeting customer specifications and quality requirements,” said Dr. Gene Fliedner, program director.

“It is ideal for those interested in learning the core knowledge tested on the Project Management Institute’s certification exams, or simply for those interested in advancing their educational pursuit and project management knowledge.”

The online course will be offered through OU’s Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) Department from 6-9:30 p.m. on consecutive Mondays and Thursdays from July 31 through Aug. 31. The registration fee for the course is $1,600 per participant. To register, click here and enter CEBA 15000 in the search window.

Enrollment in the class is capped at 20 participants to provide for an intimate class size allowing and promoting detailed discussions.

“There are several benefits of the online class,” Fliedner said. “First, like the face-to-face offerings, this online version is certified as 100 percent compliant with the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) body of knowledge. Second, it offers the requisite 35 professional development units (PDUs) needed to take the Project Manager Professional (PMP) exam offered by PMI.

“Third, this online course specifically seeks to prepare participants for the PMP certification exam. Fourth, being online, participants can be physically located anywhere an Internet connection is accessible.”

Instructors for the online course include Dr. Bill Edwards, a visiting instructor in Oakland University’s Industrial and Systems Engineering Department within the School of Engineering and Computer Science, and Dean Baker, a Project Management Professional certified by the Project Management Institute.

Detailed information about the course can be found online via the PACE website at Oakland.edu/pace/business/project-management.
