Campus Resources

Oakland University offers a variety of resources and tools to help its students achieve success. It is the only public university in Michigan with absolutely no fees. Oakland provides disability and support services, as well as academic and career advising.

Kresge Library provides an open array of student support services from research techniques to distance learning support. Librarians are always willing to provide assistance on projects and are accessible through a variety of means such as in person at the reference desk, by phone/email, and even IM. Kresge Library offers extended hours during exam weeks to give students more study time and recently opened a cafe directly inside the library. You can grab a coffee, smoothie, and/or sandwich among other options while you study!

Looking for the best place to find textbooks? Look no further than the Barnes & Noble at OU located in the basement of the Oakland Center (The OC is the perfect place to hang out before, between, and even after classes. There is a great selection of food, TV viewing areas with the most comfortable recliners, and even a game room). Barnes & Noble at OU is home for any textbook needs — with options to sell, purchase, or event rent textbooks. Not only will you find textbooks at the book store; you will also find apparel, gift merchandise, as well as many other room essentials and school supplies.

The Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) was established to ensure that students with disabilities are able to receive the full university experience. It acts as a liaison between students and faculty/staff and promotes awareness throughout the entire campus community. The DSS facilitates reasonable accommodations in accordance with recent documentation requests. Visit the Office of Disability Support Services official page to contact the DSS or for more information on disability support services.

OU is a 2012 Military Friendly School and is proud to support veterans in their academic and personal journeys. Through the combination of veteran benefits, support services, and a devoted faculty/staff; Oakland is committed to helping veterans, service members, and eligible family members of disabled veterans accomplish their goals.  Please visit the Veterans Support Services site for more information.

Oakland welcomes international interests and is dedicated towards global citizenship and multicultural appreciation. The International Students and Scholars Office provides helpful new student orientations, immigration-associated advising, as well as social/cultural counseling to international students and scholars.

In addition to the above, Oakland University recognizes the need to provide entrepreneurial resources and strategic business solutions to develop intellectual property. The OU Smartzone Business Incubator (OU INC) is designed to meet this important community need. The incubator provides university resources, decision support technology, business counseling services and financial/capital acquisition assistance to support technology-based and life science businesses.
