How can I get involved in Student Congress as a legislator?
A student needs to attend 3 OUSC General Body Meetings, collect at least 50 signatures, and create a one-page summary with a brief overview of the student and what that student would bring to Congress if involved.

What is the reponsibility of a legislator on Congress?
All legislators must make an effort to attend all Congress meetings; this is essential. Legislators are representatives of the student (body) voice. It is through these members of Congress that bills/resolutions are presented and passed. Legislators are the contacts that students have if they want to voice their concerns about a particular issue regarding the university. Aside from attending all meetings, legislators also must serve a minimum of one hour per week in the Congress office. Also, serving on one congressional committee, and one university wide committee.

If I can't be a legislator, what can I do to be involved?
Congress meetings are open to everyone. These meetings take place every Monday at 4 p.m. in the Oakland Center (usually in the Oakland Room). Towards the end of each meeting, students that have come to watch (via the gallery) are invited into discussion. Attendance is highly encouraged by Congress. This is an excellent way to know what is going on on campus. There are also committees you can get involved in.
