President Pescovitz pens opinion article on pursuit of MLK's Dream

Calling upon her personal experiences, her thoughts on the role of higher education to support diversity and inclusion, and her hope for the future, Oakland University President Ora Hirsch Pescovitz submitted this opinion piece to the Detroit Free Press in advance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

President Pescovitz's father, Rabbi Richard G. Hirsch, was the founding director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism. He marched alongside Dr. King in Selma, Alabama.

In addition to this newspaper opinion article, Oakland University continues its long tradition of celebrating Dr. King's work with its Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Awards Celebration on Monday, Jan. 21. This year's event will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Founders Ballrooms at the Oakland Center on campus. The event is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the public.
