Nurses rate highest for honesty and ethics in latest Gallup Poll
Nursing students at Oakland University are going into the profession deemed most honest and ethical in latest public opinion poll.

For the 18th year in a row, Americans have rated the honesty and ethics of nurses highest among a list of professions listed in a Gallup Poll.

Currently, 85 percent of Americans say nurses' honesty and ethical standards are "very high" or "high," essentially unchanged from the 84 percent who said the same in 2018.

“This poll is a nice validation and reminds us that it is our responsibility to maintain the public trust in shaping the future nursing workforce,” said Judy Didion, Ph.D., R.N., dean of Oakland University’s School of Nursing. “While honesty and ethics are challenged every day in health care, their preservation is essential for the health of our communities and the continued success of our profession.”

Engineers, doctors and pharmacists ranked next on the list, about 20 percentage points behind nurses. Car salesmen and members of Congress placed at the bottom of the list.
