SMEA-OU   WINTER 2007

Welcome to the Student Michigan Education Association at Oakland University (SMEA-OU) website!  We appreciate your interest in SMEA, and invite you to look around and discover what our organization is all about!

SMEA-OU is officially registered with the Center for Student Activities at Oakland University.  Membership is open to all education and prospective education students, both elementary and secondary.

We have three main objectives:

1. To support each other as education students and as fellow future professionals.


2. To form a network between students and faculty in order to be a constructive 
     influence on the education program.


3. To gain insight and understanding about education as a career.

We hope you'll get in touch with us and find out what we're about for yourself!


LATEST NEWS     TUE 4.10.07

  The Future Educators Dinner, our end of the year banquet, is this Saturday,
April 14, at 6 pm in the Gold Rooms of the OC! We hope you'll come to hear our
guest speaker, Tracy Szutkowski, SMEA state Chair-Elect, and to eat some
great free food!

End of the year membership certificates will also be presented at the banquet!
If you are one event short of achieving active member status, attendance at
the banquet will count as your 6th event!

Outreach to Teach in Lansing, hosted by SMEA-MSU, is Saturday, April 21!
Please let us know if you have agreed to participate, so we can organize carpools!

The Scholastic Book Fair was a big success! Thanks to all of our great volunteers!
We raised $1073 that Murphy Elementary in Lapeer will use to buy materials
from the Scholastic catalog!
