Enhancing Instruction with Technology in the Classroom

Thu Mar 24, 2016 at 12:00 PM

Eager to hone their technology skills in the classroom, sixty dedicated educators gathered at Pawley Hall on Saturday, March 19 at the Oakland University Enhancing Instruction with Technology workshop. In the opening keynote address, OUSEHS alumnus Michael Medvinsky reminded everyone that relationships, not tech tools, are at the heart of deep learning, and that trust matters! Mike challenged teachers to utilize relationships and creativity to successfully integrate technology into the classroom and school setting.

Teachers attended sessions on a variety of timely and creative ideas. OUSEHS would like to thank the presenters who shared their expertise and ignited excitement amongst the attendees. Check out the summary below from this year's winter conference and watch for information on our summer technology conference. You won't want to miss it!

Presenter Christina Ostrander described how student led EdCamps can lead to great learning results and high engagement in as little as 15 minutes, and Lori Banaszak showed how her elementary school in Clarkston started coding clubs for students and taught students to become creators and designers of their own digital content. In Trapper Hallam's session, teachers learned how digital apps can be utilized to give immediate feedback for formative assessment. Dwayne Wessel led a session on flipping the special education classroom. Matt Sayers and Karen Chichester rounded out the list of presenters, teaching colleagues how to create a culture of technology in their schools and utilize technology to improve student writing.

OUSEHS is proud to share these feedback comments from teachers who attended the workshop:
