Dr. Paul is in her second semester as an Assistant Professor at Oakland University. She teaches two on-line courses in the BSN Degree Completion track and serves on the School of Nursing Committee on Appointment and Promotion.  Her entire 31-year nursing career has taken place at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where she still works on a contingent basis. For the last 18 years, she has been a nurse  practitioner for Plastic Surgery which has been primarily wound care.  Her degrees were earned at Valparaiso University (BSN) and Wayne State University (MSN and PhD). She maintains certification in medical-surgical nursing, critical care nursing and wound care. Her research focus is on itch related to chronic wounds.  She has recently submitted an R-21 grant application in response to a program announcement regarding itch from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases and subsequently received internal funding to conduct a pilot of the proposed study.
