Minding social media regulations the topic of next Lunch & Launch

Sterling Heights, Mich. – Business professionals who use computers for requesting and providing quotes, obtaining job applications and displaying products are affected by social media regulations, and the Macomb-OU INCubator's next Lunch & Launch event on Thursday, June 6, will detail exactly how.

Robin Luce Hermann, shareholder and attorney at Butzel Long, will offer a presentation titled "Business and Social Media: The Legal Issues." In it, she will argue that for all businesses, simply having employees means that social media is something to be aware of and address in company policies.

Luce Hermann is a practice group leader of Butzel Long's litigation practice and the head of Butzel Long's media group. She is a 1984 graduate of the University of Michigan and a 1993 cum laude graduate of the Detroit College of Law, where she was a managing editor of The Law Review.

Representing a broad array of clients, both as plaintiffs and defendants, Luce Hermann concentrates her practice in the areas of media law – particularly defamation, privacy and access issues; commercial litigation, including RICO; non-competes and trade secrets; and civil rights.

She serves as general counsel to the Michigan Press Association, the official trade association for the newspapers of Michigan, with more than 350 members throughout the state. Robin has extensive trial and appellate experience in both state and federal courts in a variety of areas.

This free lecture, set for noon to 1 p.m. at the Macomb-OU INCubator, will include a question and answer period. Coffee and dessert will be served, though guests are asked to bring their own lunch.

The incubator is located in the Velocity building at 6633 Eighteen Mile Road in Sterling Heights. Those interested in attending the lecture are asked to register in advance by contacting Joan Carleton at (586) 884-9324 or e-mailing to macINC@oakland.edu.

The Macomb-OU INCubator provides comprehensive development and support to startup and emerging businesses with a focus on the defense, homeland security, advanced manufacturing and technology sectors. For more information, visit the incubator website at oakland.edu/macombouinc.
