Medical School
The Detroit Free Press reported that the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine has received a total of 3,237 student applications from across the nation to fill 50 openings in its inaugural class. The school is set to open in August 2011.

Sleep Out Against Homelessness
The Oakland Press reported on the Sleep Out Against Homelessness, commending students in the OU Integrative Studies program who slept outside over night at the Grace Gospel Fellowship Church in Pontiac to raise awareness about the plight of the region's homeless population.

Meadow Brook Music Society
C & G News reported on the Meadow Brook Music Society, a collaborative partnership between Meadow Brook Hall and the OU Music Theatre and Dance department. This ambitious new classical concert series aims to combine world class music, the beauty of Meadow Brook Hall and casual conversation with performers.

Robert Folberg
Dr. Robert Folberg, founding dean of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, authored a letter to the editor of the Detroit Free Press highlighting the school's strong points, including its importance in helping address the state's and nation's coming physician shortage.

Duane Mezwa
Dr. Duane Mezwa, corporate chairman and clinical professor of diagnostic radiology at Beaumont Hospitals and the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, was featured in the Detroit Free Press commenting on the efforts of Michigan hospitals to reduce radiation exposure from CT scans. He was also featured in Journal Register News after being honored with a Healthcare Leadership Award from the Michigan Health and Hospital Association.
