OUAA Scholarship Opportunities The OUAA is now offering scholarships that directly benefit alumni and their family members. If you are a graduate of Oakland University who is currently pursuing a second degree at OU, you are eligible to apply for a Returning Alumni Scholarship. Maybe you are a parent or grandparent of a current or incoming Oakland University freshman. If so, they may qualify to apply for a Legacy Scholarship. Both scholarships offered are $3,000 non-renewable awards that will be distributed for the fall 2008 and winter 2009 semesters. You must be a current member of the alumni association to qualify and students must meet the minimum GPA requirements to apply. Full Story... |

Oakland University Increases Electronic Data Security Join GrizzLink to ensure that you can continue to access your OU unofficial academic transcripts easily online. In your personal profile screen in GrizzLink, you can obtain your Grizzly ID, which is needed to login to the OU SAIL system. Both are secure systems and all OU alumni have a private profile page in GrizzLink, which includes personal, biographical information and a Grizzly ID. Starting in February 2008, the SAIL system will add further security by scrambling password (PIN) resets. It is very important that you visit SAIL immediately and create or review your security question and answer in SAIL. Full Story...

Alumni Admissions Ambassador Opportunities New opportunities are available for alumni to serve as Alumni Admissions Ambassadors during the winter months. Local and out-of-state recruitment fairs are continually being added and posted on the AAAP Web site. Remember the built-up anticipation you felt when you first arrived at OU? On campus Welcome Receptions for admitted incoming freshman are fast approaching. OU Women’s Basketball Under the Northern Lights Time is running out to sign up for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the beauty of Finland and Sweden with Oakland University and the OU women’s basketball team. The trip, scheduled for August 22-30, 2008, will take you to some of the greatest sights in Scandinavia, as well as provide the chance to see the OU women's basketball team play some of the finest women’s basketball teams in Scandinavia. OUAA members get great seats at Rochester Parade OUAA members got first chance at reserved bleacher seating for the 56th Annual Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade on Sunday, Dec. 2. In a matter of hours, 100 bleacher tickets were snatched up by OUAA members looking for front-row seats to the most popular holiday parade in the metro area. Full Story... |
Young Professionals of Rochester enjoy Parade, set upcoming meeting The Young Professionals of Rochester (YPR) group hosted a gathering at Mixx Salon and Spa in downtown Rochester on Sunday, Dec. 2. More than 30 people attended the event, which featured catering from Outback Steakhouse, as well as a great view of the Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade from the second floor balcony of the salon. Grizzlies gather for an exciting night at the Palace More than 300 alumni and friends gathered for a reception in the Ameriprise Club at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Dec.22 between two men’s basketball games featuring MSU versus Texas and OU versus Oregon. The reception featured great food and lots of black and gold spirit that no doubt helped the Golden Grizzlies achieve an exciting 68-62 victory over Oregon in the second game of the double header. |

Six OU students to receive Keeper of the Dream scholarships Six Oakland University students will be honored at the 16th annual Keeper of the Dream Awards Celebration on Monday, Jan. 21 at 11:30 a.m. in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms. The Keeper of the Dream Awards pay tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for his achievements on behalf of civil rights. Human rights activist and entertainer Harry Belafonte will be the keynote speaker of the event, which recognizes students for their efforts to break down cultural stereotypes and promote interracial understanding. OU to screen ‘Shakespeare Behind Bars’ On Thursday, Jan. 31, Oakland University will screen the award-winning documentary “Shakespeare Behind Bars,” to be followed by a question and answer session with Curt Tofteland, volunteer director of the innovative Shakespeare Behind Bars theatre company, the only North American Shakespeare company contained within the walls of a medium security adult male prison and subject of the documentary. OU Symphony Chorus to perform at Detroit’s Orchestra Hall The Oakland University Symphony Chorus will join forces with the Pontiac Oakland Symphony and two premiere choral groups in celebration of Oakland University's 50th anniversary through a presentation of Verdi’s Requiem on Wednesday, April 9 at Orchestra Hall at the Max M. School of Business promotes global perspective Oakland University School of Business Professor Balaji Rajagopalan recently went to India to interact with faculty at the Indian School of Business, where discussions were held about growth strategies for global IT service providers and potential opportunities for OU's SBA students were explored. “Global work experience is vital for graduating students if they wish to compete in the global market place,” Rajagopalan replied when asked about his experience. On March 20, OU students will have the opportunity to attend an international etiquette dinner.
