Macomb-OU INCubator secures funding for sports telemetrics business
Sterling Heights, Mich. -The Macomb-OU INCubator was recently awarded $14,000 in Business Accelerator Funds (BAF) to provide accelerator services to client company Telemetrio LLC. The Macomb-OU INCubator is one of the top business accelerators in garnering State of Michigan Business Accelerator Fund dollars to assist client companies.
"The Macomb-INCubator is excited to support Telemetrio in its plans to expand nationally, which will result in economic development and job creation for the State of Michigan. We are grateful to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for providing the Business Accelerator Fund program to help accelerate promising startup companies in the state," said Julie Gustafson, executive director of the Macomb-OU INCubator.
Telemetrio is developing a computer-vision sports telemetrics and broadcasting system specifically geared to youth sports. The process involves filming the games, capturing the highlights, auto-analyzing and sorting these clips, extracting various statistics, and ultimately sharing the results via a visually-pleasing and easy-to-use web portal. Friends and family will have access to these results from anywhere in the world and within a very short time of the live event. The first pilot is now being extended to multiple installations at Ultimate Soccer Arenas.
This BAF award expands the potential for Telemetrio to expand commercially across the country with the top-leading national soccer clubs. Telemetrio anticipates four full-time Michigan hires in 2014, thereby creating four new jobs, as a result of the acceleration this funding provides.
The BAF for Telemetrio will support critical intellectual-property legal expenses to be completed in partnership with the law firm of Butzel Long. Telemetrio also plans to work with Core3Solutions, a multimedia communication provider, to build a rock-solid strategic approach to sell the product through the majority of the academy teams in the United States.
These BAF awards are distributed by the Michigan Small Business Development Center (MI-SBDC) through the Macomb-OU INCubator to the various accelerator service providers. As these awards demonstrate, the Macomb-OU INCubator is successfully delivering specialized business acceleration services to companies commercializing advanced technology. The BAF is a 21st Century Jobs Fund Program managed by the MI-SBDC in partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Michigan's network of business accelerators.
