Macomb-OU INC wins $500,000 grant to support continued growth

     Sterling Heights, Mich. – The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the state's leader in marketing and promoting economic growth, has awarded the Macomb-Oakland University INCubator a $500,000 grant to support operations and to develop and enhance staffing, operations and program offerings to small business clients.

     Macomb-OU Inc was one of 12 incubators and business accelerators in Michigan selected by the MEDC to share $6 million in funding.

     "The Macomb-OU INCubator is very grateful for this grant award," said director Julie Gustafson. "This support will go a long way towards enhancing current programs and developing small business trainings that will better serve emerging companies in Macomb County."

     Located within the Technology Advancement SmartZone of Sterling Heights, Macomb-OU INC provides comprehensive development and innovative support to start-up and emerging businesses in the areas of defense, homeland security and advanced manufacturing.

     To accomplish its overall mission, the incubator gives client companies access to entrepreneurial resources, innovative business solutions, rental space, business services, equipment and technology support, student internship services and proactive consultation on developing business strategy and financing growth.
