Ongoing Activites
Poetry Readings
In order to give readers and poets a chance to share their favorite poems in a convivial setting, Kresge Library holds monthly poetry readings in the Student Lounge, on the 2nd floor, just inside the main entrance. Generally occurring at noon on the first Thursday of any given month, these events are a relaxed and informal setting where attendees can read their own work, poems by other authors, or just sit back and enjoy the experience of listening. Also, check out our upcoming poetry slam with real prizes

    
Lit to Film Book Club announces new lineup
A joint venture of Kresge Library and the Oakland University Alumni Association, the OUAA Lit to Film Book Club explores the transition and interpretation of literature on the silver screen. Participants read a book each month, and then watch and discuss a film based upon it. Full Story...

Authors at OU 2009: A Celebration of the Journal Article

Last year's fourth annual tribute to the scholarly productivity of Oakland University faculty continued with a celebration of the journal article.   A reception was held on March 4, 2009, at which three authors discussed their work and over 80 participants enjoyed the event.  Full Story... 


Grand Opening of the Information Commons
On October 22, 2009, Kresge Library hosted the grand opening of the Technology Learning Center. The TLC features a brand new, state of the art Information Commons on the second floor of the library, the relocation of e-Learning and Instructional Support to the 4th floor of the library, and the UTS Help Desk's move to KL202. Poetry Slams Liven Library
Kresge Library hosted poetry slams in November 13th of 2008 and April 16th of 2009. Well-attended by enthusiasts of spoken poetry, these events were emceed by Karrie Waarala, library director at Auburn Hills Public Library, co-sponsor of the event. In honor of National Poetry Month our next Slam will be held April 8, 2010, at 7:00PM.  Full Story...
