UPDATE: This event has been moved. The Remembrance Event will take place at the Oakland Center in the Banquet Rooms.
The Oakland University community will gather in the Oakland Center for a remembrance event honoring faculty, staff, retirees and students who passed away during the past year.
The remembrance, which takes place at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, will begin with a performance by OU’s carillonneur, Dennis Curry.
Jon Margerum-Leys, dean of the School of Education and Human Services, will deliver welcome remarks, which will be followed by remarks from OU President Ora Hirsch Pescovitz. OU Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, James Lentini, will read the names of the deceased, with a bell chime to follow each name.
President Pescovitz will present a framed Certificate of Accomplishment for students and a Certificate of Remembrance for staff and faculty, to all families who are present.
