In an article published in Chemistry of Materials, a prestigious journal under the American Chemical Society, Oakland University Associate Professor of Physics Yuejian Wang explored how high-pressure techniques can induce changes in certain crystalline materials, similar to the way graphite can be converted into diamond when subjected to high pressure and high temperature.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.  A ticket is not needed to attend.  “A Conversation with Josh Peck” will be a moderated Q&A in which Peck will reflect on the trials and tribulations of his life and rocky transition into adulthood.

After more than three years as Oakland University’s provost and executive vice president of Academic Affairs, Dr. Britt Rios-Ellis has been appointed to serve as president of California State University, Stanislaus, a public university located in the heart of California’s Central Valley. She expects to begin her new leadership post this July.

The Oakland Symphony Orchestra and Oakland Symphony Chorus will present Mozart’s Coronation Mass and the monumental Concerto for Orchestra of Bartók in their annual gala concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2 at Detroit’s Orchestra Hall.
