Memorial fund to honor Bhargava with marketing student scholarship

To honor Oakland University Marketing Professor Mukesh Bhargava, who passed away in late February after a long battle with cancer, his family, friends and colleagues have come together to establish a memorial fund at Oakland University to create a scholarship for promising students of marketing.
The group’s goal is to raise enough money to endow Oakland University’s first scholarship for marketing students in Bhargava’s name.

The Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence, part of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University, has selected “Leading and Managing the Lean Management Process” by Gene Fliedner as a recipient of the Shingo Research and Professional Publication Award. Fliedner is an associate professor at Oakland University.

Since 1999, Cardimen has been helping master’s students get a leg up on their business education through the overseas trips he leads for graduate students in his International Management class (MGT 681).

Mukesh Bhargava, much loved marketing professor, passes away

Mukesh Bhargava, associate professor, marketing, passed away Feb. 25, after a long battle with cancer. A professor at Oakland University’s School of Business Administration since 1994, Bhargava is remembered as an outstanding professor, a good colleague and friend.
“Not only was Mukesh an outstanding professor in his field, he was inspiration to us through his illness, his continued dedication and support of the university and his students never wavered. It was clear he loved being here with his colleagues and friends. He leaves behind many heavy hearts,” says SBA Dean Mohan Tanniru.
The family is establishing the Mukesh Bhargava Memorial Fund at Oakland University. For those interested, donations can be sent to the SBA Dean’s Office or to Gift Accounting at Oakland University.
