SBA alumnus named vice president of human resources for Cox Communications
Monday, April 16, 2012
It’s been said that choosing a university can make or break a career. Reflecting on 20 successful years in the human resources profession, Pipier Bewlay (SBA ’86) is glad she made the right decision. She applied and was accepted to Cornell University, General Motors Institute, and her school of choice, Oakland University.
“OU is as good – or better – than the name-brand schools out there,” Bewlay told the SBA Insight in a 2009 article. “People take for granted that there is a great university in their own backyard.”
Her education and experience led to her recent position as Vice President and General Manager of Human Resources for Cox Communication. Here Bewlay will oversee the development and execution of Cox’s employee relations, development, and acquisition and retention strategy for the company’s 1,400 employees in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Ohio.

Considered one of the nation's top authorities on buyer-supplier working relations, Henke is president of PPI, a management consulting firm. His firm's annual automotive industry survey dissects the relationships between each of the six major North American car companies, including General Motors, Nissan and Toyota, and their Tier 1 production suppliers. Henke is often sought out by the media, as well as car companies and suppliers, because of this expertise.
