May 2013 Newsletter: EIR News: BiancoCPA: New Regulations on Employer Identification Numbers via the IRS
Thursday, May 30, 2013
Lori K. Bianco, CPA and CGMA of BiancoCPA, notes that the IRS has issued new regulations regarding employer identification numbers (EINs).

The IRS issues EINs, also known as taxpayer identification numbers, to sole proprietors, limited liability companies, corporations and other employers and entities for tax reporting purposes. Many times, EINs are issued to those acting on the applicant/taxpayer’s behalf, which is often the case with attorneys and CPAs.

The current EIN system occasionally results in accuracy issues and outdated information because the term of those acting on behalf of the applicant may expire. To mitigate this ongoing problem, the IRS recently issued regulations, beginning January 1, 2014, that require EIN-issued taxpayers to update their information via an IRS-issued official form. The regulations apply to all entities possessing an EIN on or after January 1, 2014, which means these new rules apply retroactively.
May 2013 Newsletter: Client Company Spotlight: Coupon Wallet
Friday, May 24, 2013
"Coupon Wallet is excited to be a part of the Macomb-OU INCubator and have enjoyed our time here since April. We made the decision to move to the incubator based on recommendations from Mike Brennan, who is helping us apply for funding. Andrea helped us get acclimated to the building, and she greets us every day. It is nice to be around many other active businesses because it increases our individual levels of motivation. So far, we have met with Julie and Wayne to set up our incubator strategies and have started working with the executives-in-residence. All in all, we are very fortunate to be around so many talented business professionals who are all working to help us succeed. We now have more help than ever before, so our morale couldn’t be higher. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read this. Please feel free to stop by 2-I anytime."

Coupon Wallet is a marketing platform that was founded in October 2012 as a technological solution for the transition from paper coupons to a digital alternative.

April 2013 Newsletter: OmnicO AGV Awarded $30,500 Grant to Advance Business Goals
Friday, April 26, 2013
With application assistance from the Macomb-Oakland University INCubator, client company OmnicO AGV Inc. has been awarded $30,500 from the Business Accelerator Fund of the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC).

Based in Sterling Heights, OmnicO AGV has developed an Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) that greatly increases the flexibility and accessibility in manufacturing and warehouse facilities. As improvement to the traditional AGV, OmnicO’s AGV innovation has increased sideways and rotational mobility, includes a modular space frame system that allows for low cost fabrication and uses a proprietary navigation system that creates traction on any path.

This grant will allow OmnicO AGV to be well positioned to meet investor requirements for continuation of growth. Milestones include ownership of a unique IP and functionality of its four-corner transceiver technology.

“Supporting OmnicO’s disruptive and innovative AGV technology is an exciting and perfect use of the Business Accelerator Funds. Their technology will improve manufacturing and warehouse logistics efficiency,” Julie Gustafson, Mac-OU INC Executive Director, said.
