Oakland University Systems Engineering Ph.D. student, Meredith Deneweth, was awarded admittance to the National Science Foundation Sponsored Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute (PASI) on Modeling, Simulation and Optimization of Globalized Physical Distribution Systems.
“PASI will introduce me to others in my field,” Deneweth said. “I’m sure to find lifelong research partners, connections to subject matter experts, and potential job opportunities.”
Deneweth, who specializes in Supply Chain Modeling and Simulation, will be visiting PASI from August 5 to 17, 2013 in Santiago, Chile.
According to Deneweth, in order to apply she was required to fill out a questionnaire about her class standing, as well as compose an essay describing how she would benefit from the experience.
“I feel like I got invited to the modeling and simulation equivalent of Disney World,” Deneweth said. “I’ll (receive) knowledge by subject matter experts in my favorite fields, tour a major port and winery, while completing group projects with people who love this stuff as much as myself. I also get to live, work, and experience the culture in Chile for two weeks. How cool!”
