Friday, February 14, 2014 - Education major a 2014 Fulbright Award finalist

Steven Wynne
Steven Wynne, an education major and member of OU’s Honors College, is a finalist for a 2014 Fulbright Award. Founded in 1946 by U.S. Senator J. William Fulbright, this highly competitive grant program supports international educational exchange for students, scholars, teachers, professionals, scientists and artists.

“Thousands of students across the United States apply for these awards,” said Graeme Harper, dean of the Honors College. “Steven has beaten students from universities twice our size to be named a national finalist for a Fulbright. He represents the reason students come to Oakland University with aspirations to excel.”

Wynne, who received Oakland’s Keeper of the Dream Award in 2013, has been recognized for his contributions as a cell group leader for the Honors College, president of International Allies Organization and as a resident of the International Village at OU. As a study abroad student in Oldenburg, Germany, he conducted research comparing English and German foreign language teaching techniques.

Fulbright winners will be announced in late February. For more information on the Fulbright program, visit the website at us.fulbrightonline.org
