Welcome!

This page contains general information about the OUWB Medical Library.

Mission

The Medical Library provides the OUWB learning community with the spaces, resources, services and instruction that enable students to achieve the information mastery necessary for excellence in patient care, teaching and research.

Location / Space

The Medical Library is located within OU's Kresge Library. It includes a large Medical Library Study Room, which accomodates 50 learners, in addition to 7 individual study carrels dedicated solely to the School of Medicine. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of all the other Kresge Library amenities, including the newly renovated Learning Commons and Cafe.

Hours

The Medical Library's hours are the same as the Kresge Library.

Collection

The Medical Library's collection is mainly electronic, comprising thousands of online books, journals and databases. Key resources include: AccessMedicine, MDConsult, Micromedex and UpToDate. There is also a reserve collection of print textbooks and anatomical models, conveniently located in the Medical Library Study Room. The collection is tightly integrated with the curriculum and is selected in close collaboration with the school's faculty.

Information Literacy

Library faculty provide information literacy instruction that is integrated throughout the curriculum. Information literacy instruction starts with a six-week introduction to the medical literature as part of the Capstone Project.
