Student-Run Applicant Hosting Program at OUWB
Congratulations on your interview at the OUWB School of Medicine! As medical students, we would like to wish you a warm welcome to the school and the surrounding area. We’ve recently had the same experience with the expenses of the medical school interview process, and as a result, would like to offer a formal student hosting program to interested applicants. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the school firsthand during your visit.
What to expect:
Not only will you be able to save the cost of a hotel stay, you will also get the chance to meet a current medical student who can answer many of your questions about student life at OUWB and the Oakland County area. Due to our busy class schedules we will be unable to provide transportation to and from the airport, but a ride to your interview in the morning will likely be included if you would like one. Please note that the number of available hosts will vary depending on exams and breaks, so make sure to sign up early!
How to apply for hosting:
Please click on the link below and fill out the form, preferably at least a week in advance so we can find a suitable match before your interview. Your information will be sent to the program coordinator and you will be contacted with more information once a student host is selected for you. We hope to see you soon!

Frequently Asked Questions
When will I hear back about hosting?
We will do our best to match you with a host within a week of receiving your information. Once the host confirms that he or she is available for the given date the program coordinator will then send contact information.
What accommodations are available?
Many of the students have an extra bed available, but depending on demand for a particular interview date some may have a couch or air mattress available instead. We will try to accommodate sleeping preferences as best we can.
Is travel provided?
Unfortunately, we will be unable to provide transportation to and from the airport. Please keep in mind that we have very busy schedules and may be in classes or labs at any time during the day, so it would be difficult for your host to go to the airport. However, as a courtesy the hosts are encouraged to bring interviewees to campus with them to help ensure that the interview day starts on time.
What should I do with my luggage/personal items?
You can leave your luggage with the admissions office if you plan to leave for the airport from the interview.
Who should I contact if I run into problems?
If a flight is delayed or plans don’t work out, please contact your host to notify him or her of the changes. If you can’t reach your host or if you have general questions about the host program please send an email to ashills@oakland.edu and we will respond as soon as we can.
