Roberto RinaldiDr. Rinaldi joined Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in September 2016 where he teaches behavioral science to medical students.

Dr. Rinaldi received his Ph.D. in applied developmental science, his M.S. in mental health counseling/applied developmental psychology, and his B.S. in psychology from Florida International University. During this time, he worked as part of a team of applied developmental researchers/interventionists to develop, implement, and evaluate a positive developmental psychology counseling intervention in alternative high school settings throughout Miami.

Prior to joining OUWB, Dr. Rinaldi was a research associate at Wayne State University, where he worked on several projects related to advocacy and access for minority mental health and developmental disabilities. He also was a lecturer at the University of Michigan, where he taught a variety of courses related to numerous teaching and research interests.

Dr. Rinaldi’s research and interests focus on promoting positive development among adolescents and emerging adults from disadvantaged and ethnic/racial minority backgrounds. He is interested in the potential for university-community collaborations that provide services and create research, educational and training opportunities for students.

Dr. Rinaldi is a member of several professional organizations including the Society for Research on Identity Formation, the American Psychological Association, the Society for the Study of Human Development, the Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood, and the Society for Research on Adolescence.
