Angela Nuzzarello, M.D., M.H.P.E.

Angela Nuzzarello

Dr. Nuzzarello is the Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, which she joined in 2009. In these roles, she is responsible for overseeing admissions, financial aid, student health and wellness, academic success, career development, and the residency application process. She also serves as course director for PRISM, a longitudinal course that focuses on the personal development of medical students.

Dr. Nuzzarello received an M.D. from the University of Health Sciences at the Chicago Medical School, a Masters in Health Professions Education (MHPE) from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, and a B.S. in Psychology from Loyola University in Chicago.

Over her 20-year career in medical education, she has taught communication, ethics, professionalism, behavioral science and psychiatry curricula.

Prior to joining the OUWB School of Medicine, she served as Associate Dean for Student Programs and Professional Development at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. There she held a variety of roles including Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Assistant Professor in the Augusta Webster Office of Medical Education. She also held a variety of administrative positions there including Associate Dean for Student Programs and Career Development, Assistant Dean for Professional Development and Co-Director of the Patient, Physician & Society course.

Dr. Nuzzarello has a special interest in career development and medical student wellness and has presented at national conferences on varied student affairs topics. Her clinical focus is in the treatment of anxiety disorders.

Dr. Nuzzarello has won multiple awards and recognitions including distinguished fellowship status in the American Psychiatric Association, the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and Chicago Medical School's Distinguished Alumni Award for her scientific and educational contributions to medical education.
